To celebrate Book Week this year we had some fabulous characters visit Lara PS for the day. We really appreciate all the effort that families went to in creating a range of funny, imaginative, fancy, crazy and scary characters.
We enjoyed seeing each other's costumes at our Book Week parade. We saw some very fine acting from our 1/2 teachers who proved that the Big Bad Wolf (AKA Mr Beck) is not really as big and bad as we first thought.
We participated in the whole school Big Read. Just before lunch, all grades met with their buddy grade, then big buddies and little buddies read to each other. What a wonderful way to enjoy reading.
We finished our busy day with a special assembly where certificates were presented to our highest library borrowers. We read a Book Week finalist picture storybook, 'Chip'. We also heard about each grade level's favourite book.
What a day! And what a way to celebrate BOOKS, WONDERFUL BOOKS!
